General Guide

South Florida is blessed with year-round hot and humid weather and plenty of angry people from the Northeast. The beaches are amazing (you can go swimming year-round), there's a wide diversity of amazing food, and public transport is pretty decent for an area of its size. The South Florida area has generally been a democrat stronghold since the 40's when the area built up. Most of the suburban areas tend to skew more republican.

Police presence is moderately strong in South Florida. Drugs are rampant, people get mugged, murdered, and raped almost on a daily basis and yet you'll see two or three pig cruisers parked out by a low-crime shopping center B.S.ing with one another. I rarely see people pulled for speeding in South Florida as well, so take your lead-foot with you and practice with the rudest drivers in all of Amerika!

What pig LOOOVE doing is writing suburbanites and yuppies code enforcement tickets.

Broward County (where Ft. Lauderdale is located) can be dissected into three areas.

1) The coastal area. This extends from the beaches to US 1 (Federal Hwy). This area tends to have decent, low-crime areas.

2) The central area. This extends from US 1 westward to the Florida Turnpike. Most (but not all) of your lower-class-don't-walk-alone places are in this swath of land.

3) The western area. Extends from the turnpike to where the suburbs and the Everglades meet. Pretty new construction and extremely suburban.

Housing

Free housing can be found, but South Florida was MADE for roof sleeping. Many older condos or office buildings have easy access to their rooftops, and the views are amazing!
