Precision Cutting

I can confirm this works, however quite slowly .. a quick test with a piece of 1.2mm sheet steel shows that in about 15 minutes, it will erode about 1/4-1/3mm of metal, powered by 12v DC.

  • A car battery charger gives you more amps and can work faster, as does adjusting the saltiness, it is also a good way to etch images onto a piece of metal without cutting through. In practice I just set a timer to beep every 10 min for checks and do something else, I treat it like baking.
  • It was actually powered off a 33ah SLA battery (part of my solar power system) just connected with some croc clips .. so it can provide plenty of amps .. I'd have to try adjusting the saltiness - it was only a quick test I did then to see if the concept was sound .. Scavenger 20:08, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
